Calcutta Run Golf Classic

The Inaugural Calcutta Run Golf Classic 2022

Castleknock Golf Club Friday 27 May 2022 – Tee times from 12pm

For the first time this year, the Law Society is hosting a golf tournament as part of the Calcutta Run fundraising effort, and we would like as many law firms as possible to get involved!

This tournament will take place in Castleknock Golf Club on 27 May 2022 and it will be a 4 person ‘champagne scramble’ competition. That involves using the best drive on each hole, with all players finishing out each hole with their own ball from that position. This format works well for teams with golfers of varying ability / experience – and the competition is open to golfers of all levels!

This event will be a great opportunity to bring your team, your colleagues, your clients or your friends for a fun day out and help raise money for two great charities!

Competition Format

Tee times are available from 12.10pm to 4.10pm on Friday 27 May.

The format is a ‘Champagne Scramble’ which involves the following:

  • 4 golfers per team
  • A GUI handicap is not essential (we will assign you a handicap for the day if needed)
  • Best two scores to count on each whole – stableford points format
  • You can count three scores on a Par 3 provided one score is from a female golfer
  • Each golfer plays their own tee shot on each hole
  • On Par 4s and Par 5s, all second shots are played from the best drive. You must however use two drives from each golfer over the round. Every golfer then finishes out with their own ball. Best two scores to count.
  • On Par 3s, every golfer plays the entire hole with their own ball. You can count three scores on a Par 3 provided at least one score is from a female golfer. There are five Par 3s in Castleknock.
  • The team with the most stableford points at the end of the round wins!
